Ingredients

5 oz. freshly ground beef (a butcher can supply 80/20 ground chuck)

salt and pepper

1 slice american cheese

1 hamburger bun

1 leaf romaine lettuce

1 slice ripe tomato

Pickles

1 c. mayonnaise

1/2 c. your favorite barbecue sauce

1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp. Tabasco

Preparation

Step 1To prepare burger: Preheat a cast-iron skillet or sauté pan to high heat. Take 5 ounces ground meat and hand form it into a ball and season the outside generously with salt and pepper.Step 2Place meat into pan, and with spatula press the meat flat. Allow the meat to caramelize and get crispy, about two minutes. With spatula, scrap burger off pan and flip. Top burger with cheese, and cook an additional 20–30 seconds.Step 3Place burger on toasted seeded bun and dress burger to your liking. We top our Sunset and Vine burger with lettuce, tomato, and special sauce, with pickles on the side. Other toppings that are great on a griddled burger are Mexican chili peppers, bacon, onions (raw or caramelized), and mushrooms.Step 4To prepare special sauce: Whisk mayonnaise, barbecue sauce, Worcestershire, and Tobasco together.
