Ingredients
1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 small white onion, chopped
1/2 lb. ground beef
kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1/2 c. kethcup
2 tbsp. yellow mustard
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 tbsp. chili powder
2 c. shredded Cheddar
1 c. Shredded Monterey Jack
2 tubes refrigerated French bread dough (such as Pillsbury)
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 tbsp. Freshly Chopped Parsley
Preparation
Step 1Preheat oven to 350º. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Add onions and cook until soft, 6 minutes. Add ground beef and cook until no longer pink, 6 to 8 minutes more. Season with salt and pepper. Drain fat.Step 2Stir in ketchup, mustard, garlic, brown sugar, and chili powder. Simmer until thick, 5 minutes. Stir in 1 cup cheddar and 1/2 cup Monterey Jack. Push dip into center of skillet to make room for a bread ring.Step 3Diagonally score the log of French bread dough and slice into 1/2"pieces. Place bread pieces around dip in skillet and brush with melted butter.Step 4Sprinkle bread with parsley and top dip with remaining cheese. Bake until cheese is melty and bread is golden, 25 minutes.
