Ingredients
6 c. water
1/2 c. Starburst candies, unwrapped
1 c. powdered sugar, divided
1 tsp. Cooking oil
Preparation
Step 1Pour water into a small-to-medium size pot until water level is 2" deep. Place unwrapped Starbursts into a small glass stovetop-safe container.Step 2Place container with Starbursts into the pot of water and put on stovetop over medium-low heat. Do not leave unattended. Slowly stir Starburst mixture (it should melt within a few minutes).Step 3Once fully melted, turn off burner and let sit, 2 minutes. Do not touch—it will be hot. Using oven mitts, remove container with Starburst mixture from pot.Step 4Place a 14" sheet of parchment paper on a flat surface and sprinkle 1/2 cup powdered sugar on it. Grease a silicone spatula with cooking oil.Step 5Using the spatula, pour melted Starburst mixture onto parchment. It will be sticky, but the oiled spatula will help it slide off. Let cool, 3 minutes. Check every minute with spatula. If it stretches too easily, it’s still too hot. When it feels thick and stiff, it’s ready. Step 6Fold remaining 1/2 cup powdered sugar into the batter with spatula. If it becomes too stiff, go back to the double-boiler method for 1 minute to soften. Then let it cool down again, 1 to 3 minutes.Step 7Knead until slime is no longer sticking to your hands.
