Now though it might resemble a cobbler, there is a pretty big difference. Cobblers are made with a wet batter that’s poured over a fruit mixture, a mixture that sometimes can require further prep or cooking. Dump cakes are the lazy baker’s alternative. There is no mixing, cooking or really any major prep required other than slicing some butter. The canned peaches with syrup act as the fruit mixture and instead of batter you only have to use boxed cake mix and that sliced butter. The only “tricky” thing here is just making sure the butter slices aren’t too thick or too thin. Too thick and you may not have enough butter to cover the cake mix and too thin you may end up with dry spots Looking to make something from scratch with fresh peaches?
