Ingredients
4 sticks butter
3 c. sugar
6 eggs
3/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
4 c. flour
1/4 c. cocoa powder
Preparation
Step 1Preheat oven to 300°. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter until light and creamy, 3 to 4 minutes. Add in sugar, beating until fully combined, 2 to 3 minutes. Add eggs, milk and vanilla, beating until combined.Step 2Turn the electric mixer to low speed and gradually beat in flour. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Divide the batter into two bowls. In one bowl, add cocoa powder, stirring to combine. Step 3Using a 1/3-cup sized measuring cup or large spoon, pour in batter one scoop at a time, alternating the two types of batter (it should look like brown and white spots in the pan) until the loaf pan is filled 3/4 of the way. Use a butter knife to gently swirl the batter, creating a marbleized effect.Step 4Bake until a toothpick or skewer inserted into the center of the batter comes out mostly clean with just a few crumbs, 78 to 80 minutes. Let cool.
