What does hot buttered rum taste like? If you’ve ever had butter beer, it’s slightly similar to the fan-favorite drink. Both richly sweet and golden with beautiful head, this drink adds ice cream and apple cider to mix. If you’re taken aback by the thought of drinking butter—we get it. But we promise, it adds the rich creaminess to this drink that’s made it a classic since colonial times. Add in your brown sugar, ice cream, cinnamon and apple cider for a sweet, warming drink with classic cold-weather flavors. What rum is best? We like to go for a rum with big, rich flavors in this hot drink. Dark rum is a classic choice, but a spiced rum will also add even more warming flavors and a richer taste. Really, you can’t go wrong in this drink! Can I make this ahead? Absolutely! If you’re looking to make a bigger batch for a party, make your buttered rum batter and place in the freezer until you’re ready to assemble the rest of your drinks and serve. Made this drink?
