Ingredients

1 1/2 c. whole milk

6 large eggs

1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

pinch of kosher salt

8 slices white bread, preferably stale or day-old

2 tbsp. butter

6 slices bacon, cooked

8 oz. Brie, thinly sliced

Maple syrup, for drizzling

Preparation

Step 1Make French toast: In a large bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, nutmeg and salt until light and frothy. Dip bread in egg mixture until each slice is soaked through.Step 2In a medium nonstick skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add a couple slices of bread and cook until golden, about 2 minutes per side. Transfer French toast to a cooling rack while you cook the remaining slices. Wipe skillet clean. Step 3Make grilled cheese: Lay two slices of bacon and a few slices of cheese onto a piece of French toast. Drizzle with maple syrup then top with another slice of French toast. Step 4Heat clean skillet over medium heat. Add French toast grilled cheese and cook until the cheese is melted, about 2 minutes per side.
