What are chocolate truffles? A chocolate truffle refers to a chocolate candy. Melted chocolate filling is usually either rolled in cocoa powder or another topping like shaved chocolate, or dipped in melted chocolate that will form a firm outer coating after refrigerating. Not to be confused with truffles (an expensive type of mushroom), chocolate truffles did get their name from their resemblance to the fancy fungi. Chocolate truffles are often referred to as dessert truffles to avoid any mix up with fresh truffles. How should I decorate my chocolate truffles? We’ve included multiple options for decorating these sweet treats. Coat them in cocoa powder, dip them in melted white or dark chocolate, or alternate and do all three! Top your chocolate-coated truffles with your favorite garnish, including chopped nuts, Oreos, sprinkles, or candy canes if you want to get extra festive.
