Ingredients

Cooking spray, for pan

1 c. Guinness stout, at room temperature

10 tbsp. melted butter

3/4 c. unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for pan

1 1/2 c. granulated sugar

1/2 c. packed light brown sugar 

3/4 c. sour cream

2 large eggs

2 tsp. pure vanilla extract

2 c. all-purpose flour

2 tsp. baking soda 

1/2 tsp. kosher salt

1 (8-oz.) block cream cheese, softened

2 tbsp. butter, softened

2 c. powdered sugar

1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

1/4 tsp. kosher salt

Preparation

Step 1Preheat oven to 350º. Grease a 9" springform pan with cooking spray and dust with cocoa powder. In a large bowl, whisk to combine Guinness, melted butter, cocoa powder, and sugars. Add sour cream, eggs, and vanilla to bowl and whisk until no lumps remain. Step 2In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Add to Guinness mixture and whisk until smooth. Pour into prepared pan and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 45 to 50 minutes. Let cool completely before removing pan.Step 3Meanwhile, make frosting: In a large bowl using a hand mixer (or in the bowl of a stand mixer), beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and salt and mix until combined. Frost top of cake before serving.
